Like many of you, I always knew I was meant to be a teacher. I lined up my teddy bears, ran my own classroom, and went through school with one purpose in mind. Teaching was not a career choice for me. It was a calling.
I spent five years teaching 6th grade mathematics in DeKalb County, Georgia, and walking into that classroom every day felt like the best thing in the world. Until it did not. As the years passed, I realized I was burnt out. The passion never left. But my body was tired. My mind was tired. And no one had given me the tools to do anything about it.
The Teacher Self-Care Journal is the tool I wish I had then. I created it because I believe that if teachers have the right support, they will stay, they will thrive, and they will continue changing lives. Today I work as a teacher's advocate, and this journal is how I show up for educators everywhere.
This is my heart on every page.
